Based out of Studio 82, Chris Isaac is a producer, engineer, and audio post specialist who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-faceted creative environment. Whether he’s recording vocals, mixing music, editing podcasts, or working on film post-production, Chris relies on gear that inspires action—and a workspace that keeps it all within reach.

WHAT DOES YOUR CURRENT STUDIO SETUP LOOK LIKE?

“At the heart is the UA Apollo x6. I have 12 channels of outboard pres and 12 channels of compression. As much as I love the UA Unison stuff, I also love committing to sounds on the way in.”

Chris monitors with a powerful combination:

  • Focal Alpha Twin Evos + Focal Sub One for full-range clarity

  • Avantone Cubes for accurate midrange and vocal placement

It’s a serious setup for someone balancing precision and creative flow.

WHAT BAZEL DESK DO YOU HAVE, AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE IT?

“I have the Analogue – 3 Bay 24RU. I chose it because of the ample rack space and its modern design.”

With a clean layout and an intuitive structure, the desk allows Chris to see and access all his gear instantly. He puts it simply:

“It keeps the gear right in front of me, constantly inspiring me to create more.”

WHAT KIND OF WORK DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPACE?

“I wear many hats: music recording, mixing, mastering, podcast editing, and post-production for film. It’s a hustle!”

Chris moves between roles effortlessly, and his studio setup allows for fluid transitions between music, voice, and video work—all without skipping a beat.

ONE PIECE OF GEAR YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?

Chris couldn’t pick just one, so he gave us two killer chains:

  1. Warm Audio 73-EQ into Audioscape Engineering 76D “It’s a workhorse—I’d happily track anything through it.”

2. Universal Audio 4-710d “The range of tones and compression is insane, and the I/O flexibility makes it a studio essential.”

HOW HAS YOUR WORKFLOW OR SPACE CHANGED SINCE GETTING YOUR DESK?

“The Bazel Analogue 3 Bay has been a game changer. It’s allowed me to expand my setup without losing workflow.”

By placing everything front and center, the desk helps Chris stay locked into the mix and avoid unnecessary distractions:

“I’m not constantly moving around to reach gear—I can focus on the sound coming from the speakers.”

ADVICE FOR SOMEONE BUILDING THEIR FIRST STUDIO?

“Start simple and use your ears. I began with a Focusrite 2i2 and a Rode NT1000—and made great recordings.”

Chris emphasizes patience and practice over chasing gear:

“You can have a studio full of gear, but if you don’t know how to use it, what good is it? Learn how to get the most out of what you already have before adding more.”
