When I took over Bazel Studio Desk from my dad, I knew there were certain things I wanted to preserve—not just the quality of the desks, but the stories behind them.
One of our most iconic lines is the Raystag Studio Series, a name that’s always sparked curiosity. Where did it come from? Who or what is “Raystag”? The answer is personal—and meaningful.
I once asked my dad why he decided to name that series after Ramón Stagnaro. His response was simple, but it stuck with me:
“I did it because whenever he had the chance, he would tell his friends about me. He truly admired my work. Thanks to him, I was introduced to many musicians and producers who ended up buying desks from me.”
Ramón wasn’t just a world-class guitarist—he was also my dad’s first client, a loyal supporter, and a close friend. They used to jam together, especially boleros, and over the years, a real bond formed through music and craft.
Ramon Stagnaro's musical career was nothing short of extraordinary. A Peruvian-born guitarist with global reach, he toured and recorded with an incredible list of artists—Andrea Bocelli, Diana Ross, Ricky Martin, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Alejandro Sanz, and countless others. He had a rare ability to move seamlessly between genres: Latin, flamenco, pop, jazz, world music—you name it. His playing was soulful, intricate, and always in service of the song.
But beyond the resume and recordings, Ramon was known for his generosity. He believed in lifting others up. He saw talent in my dad and went out of his way to make sure others saw it too. My dad may not have had a marketing budget back then—but he had Ramon. And that opened doors.
The name “Raystag” comes from Ramón’s email handle—a blend of “Ray” from Ramón and “Stag” from his last name, Stagnaro. My dad chose it to honor both the man and the legacy he helped build.
Every time we build a Raystag desk, we remember that connection. It’s not just a name—it’s a tribute to friendship, support, and a shared love of music.
