In this edition of our Studio Series, we’re excited to feature Ian Litovich—a producer, guitarist, and session player working out of a beautifully optimized home studio in Brooklyn, NY. From full record productions to daily guitar sessions, Ian’s setup proves that thoughtful design and high-performance gear can live comfortably in a compact space.

WHAT DOES YOUR CURRENT STUDIO SET UP LOOK LIKE?

“Right this second I’ve minimized my setup to only what I’m using on a daily basis… I’m still in a Brooklyn apartment with a home studio situation, so keeping things tidy and compact is a priority.”

Ian’s studio lives in the living room of his apartment, but it’s anything but temporary. Over time, it’s evolved into a streamlined, professional space where he can record vocals, guitars, percussion, and collaborate with others in the same room. The goal? Maximum function with minimum clutter.

His current setup includes:

● The Bazel Raystag 12 Desk
● A few pieces of outboard gear for mixing and guitar recording
● A pair of Genelec monitors
● Guitar amps, mics, and of course—plenty of guitars

WHAT BAZEL DESK DO YOU HAVE AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE IT?

“I wanted a desk where I could have my gear completely accessible without having to move around a lot… After I purchased this desk, I have never thought about studio desks again (which is great!).”

Ian has been using the Bazel Raystag 12 for the past 4–5 years. He chose it for its compact footprint, sturdy build, and rack accessibility. The desk sits at the center of his creative workflow, helping him stay focused and efficient—whether he’s tracking guitars or dialing in mixes.

“This desk simplified my setup to the point of having everything I need right at my fingertips at all times. I haven’t thought about another desk since I got it—and that’s the best kind of purchase.”

WHAT KIND OF WORK DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPACE?

“I mainly go between doing production work & guitar session work here… Everything from working on a record with an artist to tracking guitars for a client.”

From production to performance, Ian wears many hats. His studio supports both full-scale creative projects and individual session work, with gear tailored to both audio and instrument-focused needs.

Ian splits his time between:

  • Full-on production work with artists
  • Guitar session work
  • Occasional sound design and mixing

Whether he’s recording an entire record or just tracking guitars for a client, his studio setup supports a range of creative output—all from the same room.

WHAT’S ONE PIECE OF GEAR YOU CANT LIVE WITHOUT?

● Audio: Genelec 8040 monitors
● Guitar: TopHat Supreme 16 amp

“In the audio world: my Genelec 8040 monitors. In the guitar world: my TopHat Supreme 16 amp—it’s been my go-to every single day since I got it.”

HOW HAS YOUR WORKFLOW OR SPACE CHANGED SINCE GETTING YOUR DESK?

“Before I had my desk, gear was everywhere… Having this desk and the gear at arm’s length (also looking great) has dramatically helped me keep focus on the important thing—which is making music.”

The Raystag 12 brought structure and clarity to Ian’s workflow. Ian emphasizes how the desk helped reduce visual clutter, speed up gear changes, and create a more inspiring place to work. With gear easily accessible and neatly housed, he found it easier to stay focused and inspired. He calls the desk “an extension” of his studio setup—so integral that he can’t picture his space without it.

ANY ADVICE FOR ANYONE BUILDING THEIR FIRST STUDIO?

“Think about long-term solutions rather than continuously upgrading… Invest in essentials like a good desk, monitors, or chair before getting caught up in flashy gear.”

Wise words from someone who’s learned what really matters in a functional creative space. He emphasizes that starting with durable, foundational pieces saves you time, money, and stress down the road. And we couldn’t agree more.
